Massive Student Protest Against Recruitment Exam Irregularities
The spark of protest that originated in Jharkhand's education sector has now become a topic of discussion among students across the country. Students are continuing an indefinite protest and hunger strike over allegations of irregularities and paper leaks in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and JSSC-CGL recruitment examinations.
Yielding to fierce student protests and mounting political pressure, all three members of the JPSC have resigned from their posts. While the government has assured the cancellation of three controversial recruitment exams, students remain adamant in their demand for a CBI inquiry into the entire matter.
This crisis is not limited to a single state; questions regarding the integrity of competitive examinations have frequently arisen nationwide. The futures of lakhs of young aspirants—who spend years preparing in isolation—are left in limbo due to flaws in the examination system.
Educationists believe there is an urgent need to restructure recruitment agencies and implement a transparent digital evaluation system. Youth confidence cannot be restored without the strict enforcement of the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act.
If the youth's outrage is not addressed through timely dialogue, this student movement could prove to be a major threat to the political stability of state governments.
