Porsche deal puts AI in the driver’s seat. Tata Consultancy Services is planning to fully acquire MHP Management- und IT-Beratung GmbH, Porsche AG’s Germany-based management and IT consulting subsidiary, for an enterprise value of €320 million, excluding customary post-closing adjustments for net debt and working capital.
The acquisition is part of a broader €1.25 billion, five-year strategic partnership between TCS and Porsche under which TCS will provide artificial intelligence services across Porsche’s mobility value chain. The transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals, with the acquisition to be completed through a TCS subsidiary.
TCS will establish a dedicated AI Mobility Centre of Excellence for Porsche. The centre will focus on deploying AI-driven solutions across manufacturing, engineering, operations and customer experience.
MHP reported a CY 2025 turnover of €742 million and has 4,500 employees. Besides Germany, the company operates through subsidiaries in Romania, the U.K., the U.S., India and Mexico. “MHP brings strong automotive and industrial consulting and implementation experience, with strengths in business, manufacturing, AI, SAP, manufacturing digitalisation, and connected mobility,” TCS said.
Why does this matter?
For TCS, it is a direct bet on software-defined vehicles. The auto industry is no longer about horsepower alone; it is about code, data and AI. Porsche, known for sports cars, is trying to digitise its entire chain — from factory floor to showroom.
MHP is deeply embedded in that chain. It is not a generic IT firm; it lives inside automotive processes — SAP S/4HANA, supply chain, manufacturing execution, connected car platforms.
For TCS, struggling with slower growth in traditional IT services, automotive AI is a high-margin frontier. The €1.25 billion partnership guarantees annuity revenue, while the €320 million buyout gives it European consulting depth that Indian IT firms often lack. For Porsche, the logic is access to scale. MHP’s 4,500 consultants, combined with TCS’s 600,000-strong workforce and AI stack, can accelerate its transformation without building everything in-house.
The deal also signals a shift in Indo-German tech ties. Germany needs digital transformation; India offers talent and AI platforms. At €320 million, this is not TCS’s largest acquisition, but it is one of its most strategic — placing TCS inside the cockpit of a luxury carmaker as it becomes a software company.
