Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Launches 'Mission Samriddh Gaon'
Union Minister for Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan has formally launched 'Mission Samriddh Gaon' (Mission Prosperous Village) with the aim of transforming the face of rural India and making villages self-reliant. The primary objective of this ambitious nationwide campaign is to make the country's villages free from poverty and rich in employment opportunities. The Central Government believes that the vision of the country's overall development remains incomplete unless India's villages become economically and socially strong.
Under 'Mission Samriddh Gaon', a special integrated development plan will be prepared for every village. This plan will focus on promoting traditional sectors such as agriculture, small-scale industries, animal husbandry, and handicrafts, while also equipping the youth with new-age skills. By strengthening Self-Help Groups (SHGs), rural women will be directly linked to employment and self-employment opportunities, thereby ensuring their financial independence.
A key focus of this mission is strengthening rural infrastructure. Priorities will be given to providing better roads, 24-hour electricity, digital connectivity, permanent housing, and clean drinking water in villages. Improved basic amenities will help curb distress migration from rural areas to cities and create new avenues for livelihood at the local level.
Modern technology and GIS mapping will be utilized to ensure the transparent and effective implementation of the scheme. Development works in every Panchayat will be regularly monitored to ensure that the benefits of the schemes reach the last person in the queue. The Union Minister also emphasized that the participation of local public representatives, Gram Panchayats, and villagers would be crucial to this mission, enabling the creation of an inclusive framework for development.
