A major uproar ensued in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, following the death of a woman under suspicious circumstances. Her family members accused her in-laws of dowry death and demanded strict action. Alleging a lack of prompt police action, enraged villagers and family members placed the woman's body on the main highway, completely blocking traffic.

Long queues of vehicles formed on both sides of the road due to the blockade. The situation quickly became tense. A police team arrived at the scene and tried to persuade the protesters to clear the road, but the demonstrators remained adamant on their demands for immediate arrests and the presence of senior officials. A heated argument broke out between the crowd and the police during this time.

The situation escalated further when some miscreants in the crowd began pelting stones at the police team. The sudden stone-pelting caused a stampede at the scene. Two police inspectors sustained serious head injuries in the attack by the miscreants. The injured officers were immediately admitted to a nearby hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.

Following the incident, a large police force and PAC (Provincial Armed Constabulary) personnel were deployed. Senior officials took charge and dispersed the crowd by firing tear gas shells. Traffic on the highway was subsequently restored. The police have registered a case against the miscreants involved in the stone-pelting for rioting, obstructing official duty, and attempted murder.

The police have assured a fair investigation into the woman's suspicious death and have taken the main accused from the in-laws' family into custody. Meanwhile, the miscreants involved in the violence and stone-pelting on the highway are being identified through CCTV footage. Police patrols have been intensified to maintain peace in the area.
