Delhi’s Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls has flagged 33.1 lakh electors for notices. Among them: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, his wife, Election Commissioner Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, former CE Cs Sushil Chandra and Arun Goel, LK Advani and family, and economist Bibek Debroy — who died in November 2024.
Debroy, Padma awardee and former chairman of PM’s Economic Advisory Council, is listed as a 70-year-old voter in Delhi Cantonment and flagged for “no mapping” with last SIR roll. Jaishankar is also “unmapped”. Sandhu is flagged for “self-name mismatch”, later validated after document verification.
The Election Commission says notices are routine for logical discrepancies — name mismatches — or no mapping to previous rolls. But when a three-time CM Arvind Kejriwal, his family, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and a dead economist all get notices, routine looks like systemic failure.
AAP Delhi chief Saurabh Bharadwaj called it an “open fraud”, arguing BLOs delete names if someone shifts to the house opposite, hitting the poorest — who lose pink bus cards and school admissions without voter ID. The BJP, meanwhile, has not explained how its own ministers are unmapped. If SIR, meant to clean rolls, cannot map the Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri or Amit Malviya, its software logic needs a human audit. A revision that needs revision is not a revision.
