A tragic and terrifying accident late at night on a major national highway in Telangana has raised serious questions regarding road safety and vehicle maintenance. A speeding cargo 'Canter' truck lost control and rammed violently into a high-tension power pole situated by the roadside. The impact was so severe that the pole snapped and fell onto the truck, causing a short circuit that instantly ignited a massive fire in the vehicle's fuel tank. This sudden accident left the driver with no chance to react or save himself.

At the time of the accident, the truck was transporting approximately 200 head of livestock (goats) to a nearby market. The fire spread so rapidly that both the driver and all the animals were burned alive inside the vehicle. Upon seeing the flames, local villagers immediately alerted the police and the fire department. By the time fire tenders arrived and brought the blaze under control, the vehicle and its entire contents had been reduced to ashes. This horrific scene left the local community in shock, and traffic on the national highway remained disrupted for several hours.

Preliminary police investigations suggest that the accident may have been caused by the driver suddenly dozing off late at night or by excessive speed. Driver fatigue—common among those driving late at night—along with a lack of adequate lighting and safety barriers on national highways, are often the primary causes of such incidents. The police cleared the highway by removing the wreckage and sent the deceased's body for a post-mortem examination. Additionally, a team from the electricity department was deployed to repair the damaged pole and secure the scattered high-tension wires.

This accident serves as a tragic reminder of how a single moment of negligence or fatigue can lead to devastating consequences. Road transport experts believe that working hour limits should be established for drivers of commercial vehicles and that 'anti-sleep' safety systems on highways should be encouraged. Furthermore, there is a need for strict monitoring of vehicles that transport cattle in an inhumane and overcrowded manner, in order to prevent such loss of life and property as well as horrific fire incidents in the future.
