The country's largest public sector bank, the State Bank of India (SBI), has launched a revolutionary digital service for its customers. Customers can now instantly avail pre-approved personal loans based solely on their UPI transaction history and payment behaviour, without the need for lengthy paperwork or visits to bank branches.

The foundation of this service lies in the bank's advanced Artificial Intelligence and Big Data analytics algorithms. The system analyses factors such as the customer's income flow, consistency in bill payments, and regular UPI transactions. Moving beyond traditional credit score parameters, this digital profiling accurately assesses the customer's actual financial capacity.

This new process has reduced the loan approval time to just a few seconds. Through the YONO app, customers can transfer their approved loan amount directly to their bank accounts with just a few clicks. This will serve as a highly accessible avenue for small shopkeepers, freelancers, and salaried employees to meet sudden financial needs.
Additionally, the bank has implemented robust security measures. Every transaction undergoes multi-layered biometric and OTP verification, minimizing the risk of digital fraud. To ensure data privacy, the bank analyses UPI data only with the customer's consent.

This move by SBI marks a significant milestone in democratizing 'retail credit' in the country. This innovation in the banking sector will not only foster financial inclusion but also substantially reduce reliance on the informal loan market (such as local money lenders).
