A woman associated with a self-help group [SHG] in Bihar's Begusarai was allegedly assaulted and raped inside a hotel, with the incident filmed and circulated on social media, police said Tuesday.
According to complaint, the woman went to hotel on pretext of loan discussion with a man who claimed he would help with SHG loan. The accused, with two others, allegedly raped her, assaulted her with a knife, filmed the act and circulated it via WhatsApp groups.

The incident took place 3 km from Begusarai town, took place in presence of two hotel staff, police said. The video surfaced, they have started probe, arrested one, looking for two.
This is not isolated. Bihar has seen rise in SHG-linked fraud - women lured for Mudra, Jeevika loans, then exploited. Jeevika is Bihar's flagship women empowerment programme with 10 lakh SHGs. If trust breaks, financial inclusion collapses.
