District administration ordered immediate freezing of bank accounts of 71 developers to recover Rs 446 crore in pending penalties and refund certificates issued by HRERA. Apart from freezing operational accounts, revenue officials initiated proceedings to attach movable and immovable properties under Punjab Land Revenue Act applicable to Haryana.

Authorities warned if dues can't be realised through bank balances or asset attachments, provisions for civil arrest and detention of defaulting promoters will be invoked.

List concentrated among prominent developers across newer sectors: Ansal Housing Rs 91 crore, Developers Rs 90 crore, Vatika Rs 80 crore, Parsvnath Rs 74 crore, Ramprastha Rs 57 crore, IREO Rs 24 crore, Millennium Rs 8.59 crore.

HRERA Gurugram Chairperson Arun Kumar termed crackdown essential intervention. Deputy Commissioner Uttam Singh said authority does its part penalising builder but so long as recovery does not reach homebuyer entire process remains toothless.
