Tech and fashion worlds are buzzing over a shirt that can fool AI surveillance cameras. Developed by researchers at University of Maryland and Northeastern, the shirt uses adversarial optical pattern that makes wearer invisible to AI.

How it works - facial recognition AI uses edge detection and human silhouette detection. Shirt's pattern - high-contrast, distorted checkerboard and warped faces - overloads algorithm, making AI think person is not human or misclassify as giraffe or bench. Test showed 85% failure rate for YOLOv5 and Faster R-CNN models.

Privacy angle - this is big win. Modern cities have mass surveillance. London - 1 camera per 11 people, Delhi - 1 per 19, Hyderabad - 1 per 15. Citizens tracked without consent. This shirt gives tool for digital privacy, for protesters, journalists and women avoiding stalking.

Security angle - nightmare for police. If criminals wear it, tracking via CCTV fails. UK Met Police already flagged it as anti-surveillance clothing. Some US states planning to ban use in protests. Legal question - is wearing AI-proof clothes obstruction?

Tech is double-edged sword - same adversarial tech that protects privacy can protect crime. It proves AI is not foolproof, and battle between surveillance and anti-surveillance has entered fashion.
