Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, with Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi present, accused the CEC of acting at the behest of PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. At the CWC, Rahul's message to doubters was blunt: "Start believing in me". The subtext is the 2024 Lok Sabha result in which Congress feels its narrative on ECI bias gave it traction.

BJP's Jatin Anand responded that Congress leaders are out to rip apart constitutional mechanisms. The party cites the Supreme Court's refusal to stay SIR and says revision is routine.
For India, the stakes are bigger than Bihar. If SIR becomes the template for nationwide NRC-linked voter list cleaning before 2029, trust in the ECI becomes central. INDIA bloc will meet today to decide on nationwide agitation on poll malpractices. The optics are clear - Congress is making ECI itself the opposition, not just BJP.
