Inamul Hasan finished invigilation at 12.15 pm, then hunted for House No. 76 in Sarai Kale Khan. 137 notices, no house, no answer. This is Delhi's SIR reality.

At 12.15 pm Inamul Hasan finishes invigilating three-hour exam at government school in Sarai Kale Khan after teaching Urdu. Fifteen minutes later he is in same neighbourhood walking through narrow lanes as booth level officer for Delhi's Special Intensive Revision. A bag eligible to prove they are eligible to stay on final voter list Dec 4 - is slung over shoulder. First task: Locate House No. 76.

Devansh Mittal tracks his day. Hasan been BLO for around three months but never seen house in narrow lanes of Kale Khan - where cars, bikes, tempos, cows, dogs goats jostle for limited space and open drains run alongside broken roads.

Notice in hand is for Shubham Basishta and two members of his family. Calls go unanswered. Resident says no House 76 on street. Lane has just one house number - 86T. Grandfather used to own large kharsa, 86T. It kept getting subdivided but houses never registered.

A 200-m walk, shopowner says Shubham lives right on this street. At end, local residents say they know Shubham. "This is not my form. I am not Shubham," says man.

Hasan has 519 electors assigned, 137 notices. He has issued five notices and conducted two hearings. Started at 5 am for namaaz, school at 7.30 am. After three hours on ground, distributed five notices. 200 examination papers waiting to be checked.

Delhi SIR will decide fate of 1.5 crore voters. BLOs like Hasan are face of state but without digital maps, house indexing, SIR becomes endurance test.
